About the client:

Kamin Keramika Šimičak is a specialized company with many years of experience in the sale and installation of fireplaces, stoves and ceramic coverings. Their range is extremely wide - from classic, modern, rustic and stylish fireplaces, through fireboxes and open fireboxes from the Italian manufacturer Palazzetti, to tempered stoves, bread ovens, freestanding pellet stoves for central and warm air heating and a garden program. They are an established local craftsman who combines tradition and craftsmanship with a modern offer from top European brands, and their target audience is investors, homeowners and architects who are looking for a high-quality and aesthetically impressive solution for heating and decorating spaces.

Project context

Fireplaces and stoves are highly visual products — a customer considering installing a fireplace wants to see what it looks like, imagine it in their space, and make sure that the chosen supplier has the experience and taste to match them. A digital presence that doesn’t showcase products in the right way is practically non-existent for this type of client. Šimičak had a rich and diverse range and a long-standing reputation, but without a modern visual identity and a website that adequately showcased it, it couldn’t reach a wider audience or compete with suppliers with a stronger online presence.

The project included two interconnected elements — the creation of a logo that defines the company's visual identity, and the development of a presentation website that displays that identity and a rich product catalog in a convincing and professional manner.

My role and process

I took on the project in its entirety — from logo design to WordPress site development and digital accessibility implementation.

Logo design

The logo was created in CorelDRAW as the foundation of the company's visual identity. The design had to communicate the combination of tradition and modernity that is the core of the client's offering — fireplaces and stoves are both functional heating elements and the aesthetic focus of the space. The logo was consistently applied throughout the company's website and visual materials, giving Šimičak a recognizable and cohesive identity in both digital and physical space.

Presentation website

The site is organized around a rich product catalog that includes several clearly separated categories — fireplaces with casings in classic, modern, rustic and stylish designs, Palazzetti fireboxes and open fireboxes, tiled stoves, bread ovens, freestanding pellet stoves in versions for central and warm air heating, and a garden program. Each category has its own page with a visual display of the product that allows potential buyers to browse and get inspired — which is absolutely crucial for such a visually intensive assortment.

The navigation structure is set up with a multi-level menu that allows you to quickly find specific types of products without wandering through the site, and in addition to the catalog, the site includes a section with news and current events that the client uses to communicate with existing and potential customers.

Digital Accessibility (WCAG)

The project included implementing digital accessibility in accordance with WCAG guidelines, as confirmed by the Accessibility Statement published on the site. The implementation included semantically correct HTML across all page elements including a complex multi-level menu, appropriate color contrast according to the WCAG AA standard, full keyboard navigability, ARIA tags for interactive elements and navigation structures, and text alternatives for all visual content — which is especially challenging on a site with a large number of product photos, each of which must have meaningful and descriptive alt text.

Challenges

A specific challenge was the complexity of the catalog — an assortment spanning a dozen different product categories, each with its own subcategories and visual characteristics, had to be organized into a navigation structure that was intuitive and clear without becoming confusing or cluttered. The multi-level menu that addressed this also had to be fully accessible by keyboard and assistive technologies — a more technically demanding task than standard single-layer navigation.

Additionally, the logo and website had to together define the visual identity of a company that combines artisanal tradition with a modern European offering — a design challenge that requires a delicate balancing act between warmth and tradition on the one hand, and modern elegance on the other.

Result

A complete visual identity and functional presentation website were delivered, giving Kamin Keramica Šimičak a professional digital presence appropriate to the quality and breadth of their offering. The website meets WCAG digital accessibility standards, visually attractively displays a rich product catalog, and provides potential customers with all the information and inspiration they need to contact the client.
